Winter is fast approaching, and I don't know about you but as soon as Fall began, my skin just went straight into dry, itchy mode. My back and feet felt cracked, it hurt! and my hands looked like I work with cement. Hope you got the visual.
Anyhow, a girl had to do something about all that mess, and fortunately for me, I knew exactly what I needed. You guessed right! Hydration, Moisture, Nourishment and a nice, soft, thick body butter to just melt in my skin and take all the dryness and discomfort away.
Because I'm not selfish, I decided to share the wealth and make more of these products for others who may be struggling with similar issues, and as a result, the Maly line of Body Butters was born.
We have four (4) different options and the good thing is, they are all infused with Vitamin E, which is a staple in the cosmetics industry. It has anti-oxidant properties, which means it helps provide a barrier for the skin to protect it from damage that may be caused by sun or air pollutants. It also hydrates, moisturizes, heals and soothes skin irritations. If you have ever tried to read a label on your skincare product, you may notice the term "tocopherol", that is your Vitamin E. So now you know.
We are so excited to add this to our list of products, we decided to feature them this week! And they are already flying off the shelves.
WHAT ARE THE OPTIONS?
So although, we have four (4) types listed on our website, we have taken custom orders on these gems. We've made nourishing Hand Butters and soothing Feet Cream for customers who have been raving about how awesome these products are. Ok, let's get into it:
Aloe Vera
When I think of Aloe Vera, I always imagine going outside on a very rainy day and getting drenched from head to toe, sticking my tongue out and have a taste of that fresh, rain water. Yes, I know I'm weird! and I also know the taste of Aloe Vera is anything but delightful. My mom used to have us do our regular purge with Aloe Vera and orange juice, Yuck!
Perhaps the reason I get this feeling from Aloe Vera is because in skincare products, it is super hydrating. If you have skin that, no matter what you use you just cannot seem to shake that dry feeling, then a product containing Aloe Vera may just be what you need.
Aloe Vera has soothing and anti-inflammatory properties which makes it great for use on burns, acne, and chapped, cracked skin. It contains vitamins A and C which are known for their anti-aging, skin brightening and anti-oxidant properties. So yes, that is why I love Aloe Vera.
Cocoa Butter
So here's the thing! Not so fun fact about me- I had an emergency C section with my second child. I always get dragged down an unpleasant memory lane when I think about that traumatizing experience. The fact that I am able to discuss it in this forum, is growth for me. Anyhow, my scar would itch so bad. I mean, grab an object and rub it profusely, type itch (never did that though).
To combat that I went into my products closet, and started grabbing items that I thought could help, and went to town, making my ultimate Cocoa Body Butter. To top it off, I added Chocolate fragrance, because a girl needs some of that in her life. If she's not eating it, she may as well indulge in other ways and I chose skincare.
Back to my scar and the body butter I made. Cocoa Butter is high in fatty acids which allows it to form a protective barrier over the skin and lock in moisture. It hydrates, nourishes and provides elasticity in the skin, all of which I needed to sooth the itch. Cocoa Butter is known to smooth scars, wrinkles and other marks on the skin. Women, including me, often use it pre and post pregnancy to minimize the appearance of stretch marks.
Cocoa Butter is also good for use on skin conditions such as eczema and dermatitis. It is said to be useful for skin damage associated with pre-mature aging, In my culture, it is thought to even skin tone to reveal brighter, more youthful skin.
Maly's Whipped Cocoa Body Butter is a derivative of the one I made for myself and has all the same wonderful benefits.
Mango Butter
This is becoming one of my favorite skincare products. It has so many benefits and it just melts right into the skin without leaving a greasy feeling on the surface. It is excellent for soothing inflammation and itching of dry skin. It is most often used for the treatment of skin conditions such as eczema and psoriasis, amongst others.
Vitamin C in Mango Butter acts as an anti-oxidant to remove free radicals that create issues in the skin such as wrinkles. It produces collagen which is a key protein that firms the skin, presenting a wrinkle-free appearance. It is a perfect solution for people with acne-prone skin for hydration.
Coffee Butter
Before I started making skincare products, I had no idea that coffee had so many benefits, and especially to the skin. Please understand I am not a big coffee drinker and frankly, before now, never cared to know much about it.
If you've never come into contact with this luxury ingredient, it is a combination of vegetable and coffee oils. It is a very moisturizing and nourishing, soft textured butter that just glides over the skin and makes it silky smooth, and you sure smell that fresh coffee aroma coming out of it. But not to worry, if you don't want to walk around smelling like coffee spilled all over you everyday, our Coffee and Vitamin E Body Butter has been beautifully fragranced with a spicey and floral scent combination in the form of Vanilla and Yuzu to make it a far more pleasant smelling body treat.
WHAT DO THEY INCLUDE?
Maly's Whipped Body Butters all have a few staple ingredients that form the basis of the product line. I will briefly touch on them and their benefits to skin.
Shea Butter
Think about that popular kid in school that everyone knew and most people loved or wanted to be in his/her circle. That person would be the Shea Butter of school. Lol! I know my analogy is cheesy. The point is, Shea Butter is widely used in the making of cosmetic products. It is rich in fatty acids and vitamins which speak to its moisturizing properties and its ability to soften the skin. Shea Butter soothes the skin and when used in facial products, assists in toning the skin.
Babassu Oil
This is by far one of my favorite oils to work with. Similar to coconut oil, Babassu oil is softer and adds a silky, luxurious feel to the skin. Its lightweight texture allows it to absorb easily into the skin without leaving a greasy feel. Babassu is native to Brazil. Its trees are grown wild in the forests and the nuts are gathered by local women where the oil is harvested. It is unscented, unlike coconut oil, which makes it a perfect alternative for those with highly sensitive noses. Babassu oil has anti-oxidant properties and is known to soothe skin concerns such as acne, eczema and psoriasis.
Grapeseed Oil
Forgive my ignorance, but I must admit that I knew nothing about Grapeseed oil until I started researching skin care ingredients. I stumbled across this one, decided to give it a try in my body butters and I absolutely love it. It is a very lightweight oil which absorbs easily into the skin without leaving a greasy film. Grapeseed oil is a byproduct of the process of making wine, no wonder it is so delightful. It contains vitamin E and helps the skin retain its own vitamin C and E content. Therefore, it boasts the ability to seal in moisture and even skin tone with consistent use.
Jojoba Oil
This is really a form of wax that mimics the skin's natural sebum (oil your skin naturally makes). It is very hydrating and moisturizing without leaving a greasy feel on the skin. Jojoba oil is rich in Vitamin E and anti-oxidants which makes it suitable for healing and soothing irritated skin.
Beeswax
Adds firmness to the body butter, but more importantly, it has anti-inflammatory properties that helps with the healing of wounds. It is loaded with vitamin A which supports cell reconstruction. Beeswax locks in moisture to the skin and fights against dryness, so the skin remains hydrated. If you suffer from eczema, beeswax can be used to soothe itchiness associated with same.
HOW TO USE THEM?
Maly's Whipped Body Butters are best used on damp skin. The butter glides on more smoothly as it mixes with the dampness of the skin to moisturize and hydrate. They are perfect for stubborn areas such as elbows and heels that are often more dry, but nourishes other parts of the body well. I like using mine as soon as I get out of the shower to moisturize my back and neck, which I find are often dry and itchy during the colder months.
For the feet, I encourage using Maly's Whipped Body Butters at night and placing socks on overnight. In the morning, your feet should be softer and more moisturized.
SO, TO SUM IT ALL UP!
Maly's Whipped Body Butters are not just any old body butter. They are luxurious, rich and very moisturizing. They include skin-loving ingredients that are known to provide nourishment without leaving an overly greasy feel. They absorb well, quickly softens and replenishes dry, damaged skin. Perfect for male or female, during the colder months you should highly consider keeping some in your home. My four (4) year old can't keep her little fingers out of mine!
